Hey! Welcome to the monthly report here on TranscriptionPro.net!

This monthly report that includes my income from freelance transcription as well as other interesting developments in my freelance transcription efforts so it might be helpful and instructive for other freelance transcriptionists. It is also a way to keep track of my progress.

My Income Streams

I have two main income streams, as of now. One is from Google Adsense. I use Adsense of some of my websites like this one. Although my income from Adsense is modest it still pays for the hosting costs for the websites.

And the other income stream obviously is from freelance transcription works. This is what I want to focus on here. This is the stream which has a lot of potential. As I’ve said before, there are lots of people making money online. And, if you want to do the same, the answer is not to replicate what they do. Rather utilize your own skill sets to make money online.

That’s why I think developing and utilizing my transcription skills to make money online is the way for me.

Important Developments in July 2011

  • July was a very slow month. I didn’t get much work.
  • I have applied as a freelance transcriptionist to various companies.
  • In the latter part of the Month I was down with fever. Hence, why I’m late with publishing this monthly report as well.

Lessons Learned

  • Even though podcast transcription is one of the best things I’ve done it is also the most verbose. I’m reminded again and again of the fact that a podcast is meant for listening and not recorded with transcription in mind in the first place. A 30-minute audio can contain up to 5,000 plus words!
  • One of the risk of freelancing is being paid late by your clients. Or, even at all.
  • As you can see, my income fluctuates at lot from last month, June. The best thing is that I am still to receive some payments from June so that still really gives a boost to my extra income this month.

Income Breakdown

  • Google Adsense: $67.55
  • Freelance Transcription: $106

Total: $173.55

  1. Have you tried advertising on Google? It is a bit of an investment first, but it appears to be worth it.

@Tom. Haven’t tried Adwords but it’s one of those things in my mind…
